Deletion of guild

Would you agree or disagree?

I have had several friends accidentally delete guilds when attempting to go into guild hall, 2 of them had level 50 guilds with full skills learned (ouch right?). One was done by simple mistake of being tired and not paying attention, the second was due to lag and misclick.

Currently, the system is as follows:
1) Go to Royal Guard Captain Athi or the guild NPC elsewhere.
2) Click him and find 4 options.

  • Upgrade Guild
Popup to confirm you want to upgrade guild
Confirm will upgrade guild to next level if all requirements are met
Cancel will close the popup without upgrading guild
  • Guild Disbandment
This gives you a pop up telling you that you look tired and ask you to confirm and such and to click confirm.
    Option confirm to disband
    Option Cancel to not disband
  • Transfer to Guild Hall
Popup confirming you wish to move to guild hall
Confirm moves you into the guild hall
Cancel leaves you where you are
  • Cancel
This leaves you where you are

I would like to suggest a security system to disbanding guilds to make it a bit more difficult to disband and ensure the player is truly paying close attention when doing so.

Keep options to upgrade, move to guild hall and cancel as is above.
Within the confirm to disband popup, add a requirement where the user must type the guild name to confirm desire to disband. AMENDMENT: Add 24 hour chance to cancel deletion.

This will give the user an error when attempting to click confirm before entering the guild name, in case it is a misclick. And will ensure they are 100% wanting to disband if they choose to type in the guild name.

If you have a better idea, or wish to expand then please post and let me know so I can amend if necessary. Please post any reasons for no votes, as there may be something I overlooked which might need to be thought through.

Thanks!

What would be great is if there was a PIN number to delete guilds and perform important actions like that. Maybe that's asking too much but, I know of other games that actually have a pin number just to open your storage. I agree that the way it is now is dangerous and it should change.

"Within the confirm to disband popup, add a requirement where the user must type the guild name to confirm desire to disband."

I like this idea since no matter what the underlying LC code looks like, this would be easy for any developer to implement. The guild name would already be known, and just need secondary confirmation dialog to confirm user typed guild name matches the real guild name before performing the disband. No match, no disband. Zero threading issues, zero DB or other outside files/resources needed, just display a simple confirmation dialog. Very small price to be required to type guild name before DELETING it, and would avoid any accidental clicks.

this has happened to me a long time ago and I would like there to be a 24 hour cooling down period same as when deleting a character

I couldn't agree more with the idea of a 24 hour cooldown like deletion of characters or as you sugguested, getting a confirmation window. I deleted a level 50 guild by accident a few years back and had to vulture/ scavange many of my alts that I had been working on to get a new one built back up. Such a pain in the rear. Great idea Sue! This affects so many. :)

I've added the idea from Oakley to the initial idea as I feel it would also be a great addition to prevent accidental deletion. Thanks for the feedback!
