Can nothing be done about the likes of W.W.W.NOPE.COM? The small chat area is next to useless IMHO because it is being flooded with spam ads...

Spammers are gradually silenced or blocked. If you see one report it to the team on Discord so they can take a proper action.
I monitor Discord most of the time and the GMs in there take a lot of pride in jumping on the spammers ASAP. If you're not on discord you should get on and report them there and they will jump right on them.
YES!! we dont like them as much as you all do. Us GM's can't always be in game so you are our eyes as well. Sometime the spammers will spam 1-3x and then wait 30mins
So if you guys happen to see them, take an SS and post it in our discord chat, and we'll silence them right away..
Thank you all for helping those who do
Or add a player command where we can mute them ourselves, e.g. "mute azzholespammer". If ever gets abused, warn/ban the person using it on non-spammer. If necessary, limit it to maybe player guild GM, or level NNN, or something. Frankly, the game should have some auto-detection to notice repetitive chat and auto-silence.

The game does have a filter to recognize repetitive chat, which is why the spammers will change 1 tiny detail about their spam each time.
Improve the repetitive filter. Only need to sort characters of the string, and then if 50% or more of the characters compare the same, consider repeat. N times repeat, mute them. Same goes for any character that spams "wtb xyz".
btw, there is an option, press "C" and scroll down,
and find "Ignore", click it, and the list will pop up,
then click "add" and type the name that you want to ignore.
Simple as that!
wizards used to turn them ( inside out ) if they were not careful , find the spammer ,screen shot it so you can send . attempt to add them to your friends list ,since its spamming if its not set up right it will auto add . now open friends list pm them and say the magic words ,( go spam yourself ! ) it will spam in the pm instead of in world chat , boot them from your friends list , enjoy . other magic words , ( silence noob ) and ( be advised you have attempted to ply your trade on the wrong person )
you will never need to do it , I was from another time with no game guard xtrap xighncode3 or cm vilya the game had ...wizards . vilya will crush them for you .they wont even last a day .
they wont be back either , ip bans are permanent at gamigo , muhhaha! smiles .
Anything being done? Obvious GM's don't play normal toons anymore, since gold spammers pop up many times per hour. Some of the spam bots are stupid enough to accept party, some are stupid enough to accept recall. We can deal with those. The only a bit smarter bot rejects recalls, so we are stuck hour after hour after hour of spam on servers 2 and 5.
Yep, I can ignore spammer after spammer after spammer to Ignore (keep changing their names). But this is an old issue LC should have solved in game LONG AGO. If developers don't know how to program a spam filter, PLEASE add something where the players can police these spammers themselves. Give guild GMs some type of "Skill of Silence" which will shut them up. Log each usage of this skill and see how bad this problem truly is. If guild GMs abuse it, then take appropriate action. If not, I am sure players will take quick action.
We need something other than more item mall for sales...

I have to disagree with the statement they are doing nothing. All you have to do is jump on Discord and tag @game team and say there is a spammer and within a couple of minutes they will be history. I have yet to see a time where there has not been a gm available on discord to take care of the spammers. Now if you choose not to take advantage of this its is not their fault. Really until we all went into stay at home mode the spammers have not been an issue so why would Gamingo spend a dime on a nonexistent problem. I know as a business former business owner I wouldn't. If they release the new content and it draws more people in then maybe they will consider doing things like this. I just don't think it is something we should expect.
Yes, there are GM responding to Discord, but this at best an infrequent band-aid when real coding/game solution is not hard. Spammers started in 2007, came back strong early January this year and have been persistent four months later. Long overdue for a small coding change.
I manage a small software company and have been involved with software for 30+ years. My experience, it is far cheaper to retain existing customers (listening to their feedback and often small changes when practical) than to attract new, and if you ever lose a customer, almost impossible to get them back.
