Fatal Error

Greetings!
After couple of hours AFK in a shop mode on I5 my game crashes and trows at me these error messages:

followed by:

At that time I had about 4GB of RAM available and only about 13% of the memory of my Nvidia GeForce GT 650M was used.
Running Win 7 SP1 64 edition.

Any hints how to resolve this would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,

The memory leak issue is one which has plagued Last Chaos since it started. I generally recommend checking all updates (Windows, drivers, etc.) as well as for programs such as Microsoft Visual Basics program and .net Framework.

Also ensuring you always run your malware and antivirus scans and cleaning your registry of broken links always help.

The biggest recommendation would be to do a simple relog after you've been AFK a while. This will all your RAM to free itself back up to run the game properly. Keep in mind that while it only showed 13% after the issue, you were afk and all the information which occurred while you were afk was still cached into your memory up to that point (other people running on and off your screen, people buying items from your shop, skills used, pet info, etc. Plus updates to your personal char).

I use to fix it in the win7 days by manually managing my memory and creating a huge page file on a separate drive. This would keep it from crashing but, would take up a large amount of hard drive space which would go to waste unless you sit afk for a while. I haven't had to do that since Win 8 though...

Just to report that I tried both suggestions. Went thru most of the drivers in the Device Manager and all were up to date. Window is also up to date. .NET have some updates installed as recent as March 30. I also made a 20 GB page file (space is not an issue for now).
Another change I made is to set my Performance Options to "Adjust for best Performance". That one made Win 7 to look like Win3 :)

I still get the same error, but at least it holds for more than 8 hours while I'm at work and the CD of the pets runs to 0.
Restart before and after work and before bed helps.

The bigger you make the swap file the longer it will last but, it is not a solution its a bandaid at the best.

it really amuses me that whenever anyone says they are having problems with Last Chaos loading or crashing, someone from Gamigo replies with all the same reasons why and it is always that we the players must check all these different things an then re-install .
But I am getting the very same error on 2 different machines both were working last night

LC many error

I do not know if it is the fault of the server, the x-trap, the game files or updates .... it is safe to say that on all PCs (super updated) that I play crashes of LC, It make various errors, even after a few minutes of play at random and without reason.
This has been happening for a few months ... not before.

Something absolutely changed in the game, and my speculation when the different world elements event was added and those new special accessories. If a character has accessories equipped with seven jeweled sockets, then mouse over another accessory, whether it be from inventory, guild storage, character shop, Roy, or even dang BH drops, LC will almost always crash with "Errorlog.txt".

This happens on my main PC. I did download a fresh copy of the game, and sure enough, not but minutes before I was able to get it to crash. So I downloaded to my laptop and able to get the same thing. If I don't mouse over an accessory, I can usually run the client many hours without issue. Also, if I don't have any accessories equipped, or simple accs without sockets or even just 2-3 sockets, I haven't been able to recreate the problem. I have even tested transferring my seven socket accs to alts that never crash, but with the seven socket accs equipped, can get game to crash with same error.

Note that LC has some strange mouse over logic, that even mini-windows/dialogs that are *behind* what you are looking at can cause this crash. For example, if you have inventory opened but it is *behind* some other mini-window, you can still mouse over an accessory (accidentally, not seen) and seems the lower window still receives the mouse over event and crashes. This is what makes it seem so "random" in that inventory can be behind Logout window, Item Mall, etc

This is very much re-creatable, and really needs to be fixed. I played for months 2017-2018 and rarely an issue. Came back fall of 2018 but based on *.dmp files in my LC install directory, this problem did not start until mid-December, 2018. While an older game, I still very much enjoy hours playing Last Chaos, but seems I need to avoid even looking at an accessory or game will crash Errorlog.txt. Looking at the Errorlog.txt file, same type of program trace each time, and sure looks like something uninitialized and the game is trying to access memory address it doesn't own.

Update April 10, 2019.

Servers recently came back online after maintenance. Per patch notes there has been some game rework (e.g. Phoenix, Upgrade, etc). While I haven't played but about 15 minutes, I have tried many different combinations of mouse hover over accessories, and zero crash. I will try again later tonight, but hope this is a good sign that code changes either intentionally or accidentally fixed the major Errorlog.txt I was getting with seven socket accs.

Just to clarify the crash that Divataroza is talking about is not like the other game crashes. That particular crash is a memory leak issue that was alluded to by Vilya. It has been and issue with LC since the game first came out and if I remember right had something to do with the engine used to build the game on so it is not a solvable issue. These other issues you all are mentioning have no relationship to this error.

I will agree that these new crashes and errors are super annoying...

Memory leaks are fixable, there are tools to be able to identify when allocated memory is no longer referenced. However, often these leaks can be tricky as to "who should free the space", and for an older game, I agree that best to leave those alone and just exit/restart the client every so often.

However, I spoke way too soon about this latest patch fixing the seven socket mouse over crashes. I have crashed Errlog.txt four times today, two intentional trying to see if still recreatable, other two I did not close my inventory and accidentally slid my mouse over my accs when changing armor sets.

Really hope this issue gets some attention and resolution soon. :(
